Eight Steps to a
Successful Performance Study

The details of a performance analysis project can vary widely, depending on the product under analysis, the nature of the performance issues to be addressed, schedule and resource constraints, and the existing infrastructure (if any) for performance analysis. However, all successful performance analysis efforts will proceed through the same basic steps:

  1. Define the Workload(s).
  2. Select Performance Metrics.
  3. Define Product Performance Requirements.
  4. Set Objectives for the Performance Study.
  5. Select Analysis Techniques.
  6. Conduct Performance Analysis.
  7. Validate analysis results.
  8. Analyze performance data.
